I am based in Perth, Western Australia. You might enjoy my books - The Dagger of Dresnia, the first book of the Talismans Trilogy, is available at all good online book shops as is Book two, The Cloak of Challiver. Book three, The Seer of Syland, is in preparation. I trained in piano and singing at the NSW Conservatorium of Music. I also trained in dance (Scully-Borovansky, WAAPA) and drama (NIDA). Since 1987 I have been writing reviews of performances in all genres for a variety of publications, including Music Maker, ArtsWest, Dance Australia, The Australian and others. Now semi-retired, I still write occasionally for the ArtsHub website.

However, The Dagger of Dresnia and The Cloak of Challiver are available as ebooks on the usual book-selling websites, and book three, The Seer of Syland, is in preparation. Message for blog followers from Google

The following info comes via Michael Goddard, Software Engineer for Google:


In 2011, Google announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. They made an exception for Blogger, to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. However, over time, they’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks Google will be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, Google will remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs.

So if you don't have a Blogger account, now is the time to set one up! It's quite painless, I promise you!

Sounds like a bit of a nuisance. Mind you, I prefer to comment with my Google account, but I never understand why Google does some of the things it does. And it's not quite painless these days to join. They want your mobile number. I understand why, but this is one reason why I can't require my students to set up a Blogger account for class - it's simpler than other blog styles but I can't ask the kids to hand over their phone numbers.

Interesting point, Sue. Not having such a group, I hadn't thought of that. Yet I'm involved in two other blogs as well as my personal one, and on all of them, I've noticed that people who aren't big internet users are already scared off signing in. When I consider your plight, I understand why.

On a personal level, I've given up worrying about privacy (as long as no one hacks my banking!) but obviously no sane parent wants their child to hand out phone numbers to strangers, even if those strangers are big corporations with automated communications systems.
